can u squeeze stems til they pop in 12/12?

was wondering if this is too much stress to do? squeezing stem til you hear it pop but not bending it just a lite squeeze to get it to fatten its stem its a week and half on 12/12?

i do it in 12/12 and i just get big main heads , but i don,t squeeze till they pop i bend until they go just past there limit and stay horizontal, the next day they are up and build a nice knuckle
