    Question Regarding Compost and Soil

I would like to grow indoor organic cannabis. I have a well established compost pile outside, and all my outside gardens are all organic. I have worries about bringing pest that won't have competition while living indoors and causing a sort of plague. I'm sure this is just me being girly and not wanting bugs in my house. I have search high and low and have not been able to find answers to my questions. Is it required to sterilize the soil before bringing it in? Does the sterilization cause ill effects on the perfect organic soil and compost I spent years on? If It does require to be sterile how does one go about doing such a thing? help!! My minds about to explode

are you asking how long it takes for certain things to decompose? I live in one of the most bio-diverse areas of the world. It is humid, and warm all year long. If you have the proper micro- and macro flora and fauna with the correct environment(moisture/heat) it doesn't take long at all. I threw a old banana in and it disappeared in under a week. When I say disappeared, I don't mean something ran off with it. I could literally watching it decompose more everyday. I find the thing that takes the longest

I think as long as it's fully composted, you should be fine.

So there is no need to worry about gnats or other irritating bugs?

i think by sterilising your compost you would be killing off any bennies in it, but i see where your coming from, prevention is better than the cure !

I cook my outdoor soil when I use it to start seeds, I have a big pot I put in the Oven at 350F for an hour or so then let cool off in the over, my wife can't stand the smell but I had almost 100% ger rate and the seedlings do very well.

Well I went buy the best potting soil I could find in my area. It was the only bag that listed the ingredients and didn't state to feed for 3-6 months. A local professional gardener recommended it. I'll probably still cook it since it was sitting outside. I'll grab the bag out my trunk and get the name and the stats of the dirt for you. I have bone meal already. Still want to get some blood meal and bat guano. Maybe kelp extract.
