Hi readers,
So I've been growing since last winter. First off-I'm not growing for cash, I have a couple unfortunate family members that have very serious medical conditions and my flowers help them tremendously, just wanted to make that very clear. Now that summer is in full swing here in Colorado, my room is getting way too hot. I've averaging around 86 degrees F, 90 if I don't run the A/C. I'm running 4 plants in DWC under 4 1000w HPS. My room is 12x10 so I run the lights in two rows. 2 lights on one side and two on the other. With 4 lights in my room during the winter I averaged around 73 degrees F. Each light row is supplied fresh outside air via 8 inch inline fans that pull outside air through the lights and expelled through the exhaust vents directly to outside. I have a exhaust carbon filter on the ceiling to remove heat and stank buildup in the room that is big enough to replenish the whole rooms air supply every 3 minutes. I also am running fresh air intakes into the room's floor via direct vents to outside with hepa filters that get changed every 3 weeks. The carbon exhaust creates a strong enough pressure that I don't need to run a fan for the intake. So with summer here and my temps soaring past my comfortable limits, I bought a 18000 btu window style A/C that says it's big enough to run a room 4 times my size but runs literally the entire light cycle. Unfortunately the temps don't get under 85-86 degrees F. However, I like my temps round 73 degrees F so I just turned a light row off to keep the temps down as a last resort , which is going to give me a bad harvest for half of my families' crop. I'm at my wits end and could really use some advice on how to get my temps lower while still maintaining the 4 lights.
