(small space) 4weeks from sprout at a "full" 12 inches tall. Now filling out. At 2wks I topped them (rather sloppily I think) one sent 2 nice new branches, the other sent 3. then 3days ago I topped those. But every node for every lower leaf is sending a side branch shoot. But its only the "second-tier" that looks like its getting enough light. Im growing 2 plants in a 16x12x48tall with 6 cfl’s. Lately there is shading of the lower half of plants (they are 12inches tall & fill cab) I don’t think cfl has very good penetration to lower leaves. So what seems to be developing for me is that vigorous top layer (that I have topped 2x) and a second tier just under them looking fairly good, but leaves and branches lower down are showing stretch and grow slow I think from lack of light. I was thinking they are the older parts of the plant and some trim off before I flowering them. The closer to cfl’s the more enthusiastic the growth. I think its these top 2 “tiers” that will make good buds. There’s lots of opinion + & - about cfls but its what I can afford, and I don’t have setup or $ to deal with heat of hid. So I want to see what end production I can get. Main points for me are 1-stealth 2-odor control (when I flower plants) 3- any and all produce is a plus for me. For me I’m growing ‘on-the-cheap’ and cfls fit budget. ~Wasat
