Turning your wilma into a dwc
Right bitches just a quick guide on how to turn your lovely wilmas into dwc growing machines.
I know there is already a wilma sticky but had a few Q's lately about mods ive made and tried in my wilma so thought i would put them into one tidy thread.
To date ive done 3 grows with my wilma now.
1 completly standard
1 with 10L airpots and holes cut under airpots
1 with netpots sunk straight into wilma res
Had varying results with all three but obviously learnt alot through the grows.
Personally i prefer the last run with netpots straight into res, this method is realy suited to scrogging and would recommend to people with restricted head room as you save the height of the airpots or standard pots straight away.
Mods:
Here is some mods i have made
Standard wilma big 4 with 10L airpots and holes below airpots:
Cuts holes beneath airpots
Two airstones in res powerd by hailea v60
One maxijet 500 that was feeding drippers for which i put 2 drippers per pot
One hailea 1000 to mix nutes (left on 247)
Netpots direct into res (Wilma/DWC)
Drilled more extra holes around big 5" holes in top tray directly under each net pot
Made insulation lid out of 50mm celotex insulation
Airstone directly under each netpot powerd by hailea v60
Hailea 1000 for nutes circulation (left on 247)
Maxijet 500 for emptying res
Found this method fastest growing, especially in vedge
My next grow using this system will be fitted with a chiller from the off. Res mix pumped through chiller via my haliea 1000 and then discharged one inch above res level to create extra fluming in res. Hoping to see a great haul just using one plant in it to truely test the system out with a fresh grow, now all teething issues are settled. Just set up a dripper for now with two feeds to netpot as not a fan of handwatering, as soon as roots developed this will be pulled and holes filled in tray:
Some updates of system:
