Was a while ago. A Brit who had been busted a few times took to writing to various high ups that he was growing. He did it every year. The PM. The Home Secretary. (Theresa May at the time.) His Chief Constable. He got left alone.

The last local bust I read of was down to pure stupidity by a chancer. (No carbon filter and the windows open while trimming the harvest.)

The only way it would get raised if you paid hardly anything on your bill (if you bypass the meter). they can see what your house size is and they have an average for 2,3 bed etc. So let’s say your house is an average of £90 a month and your paying £20 then it will get raised so don’t bypass folks.
Not true to a degree. I'm a propper eco warrior turn plugs off pull them out have nothing on standby. Only thing on constant is the fridge. I know power companies go of average 2-3 bed house power use but they shouldn't become there's still a lot out there that eco it. But in the end I suppose if you don't take the piss with power use no one will have a problem

You can have different setting on a smart meter. transmit data hourly, daily, weekly or monthly. On the hourly one it would show an increase at same time each day when lights came on and went of. If you have it set to weekly it will just transmit a block usage for the week. I think the regular pattern may be a give away. Having said that I don't think the police monitor these things. Leccy company much more interested in unmetered usage by which it loses money.

By comparison it used to be believed that using a credit card would be a give away and that the police would monitor debit/credit card sales but I have never had a vist following on line purchases although in a shop visit I use cash.

The push for these is so they can charge by the time of day, your block usage for the week will still give detailed info

    Talking

Ours here in the States is fairly simple. If under A certain amount of KM, it is one price per KM. Any thing over that amount of KM is A little higher price. Only difference I have ever notice is that the person that use to pull in the drive way and get out and read the meter is gone. Haven't seen one of them in years.

Tis not about growing or amount used, it's the push to the times you use it without having to pay a premium...
