Help me build my first grow room :)

Hi there people
im totally new to the game of growing but after a long time thinking about it im ready to give it a go, i dont know any one personally that grows so ive had to do all my reading up online, the vast amount of info online is a bit overwhelming, with all the different methods used, all i have really at the moment is a potential grow space in my loft, im hopefully going to upload a graph i made with all the measurements so you can let me know what you think, the area has been insulated underneath with ply wood on top painted with white paint,
im planning on doing my first grow using soil and using the hole area for one big grow then maybe putting a partition in for the future,
if you can help i would like any advise on the kind of lighting and ventilation i would need for this area, also advise on potentialy how many plant i could grow in this space.

And how many plants will depend on your personal consumption and how long you need to make it last....But please be aware we have a 10 plant max limit here

ok so im finding it difficult to upload the diagram , the area i have is in a loft, shaped like a triangle with no corners the measurements-

centre height- 200cm
lowest height at opposite ends- 180cm
width-170cm
lenght- 260cm

i hope this helps guys any questions plz feel free to ask,
oh i must add, on the back wall i have an unused chimney

Before starting it's a good idea to have an idea of how much you would like to grow (weight wise) to keep you self sufficient. There's no point in spending on the latest & greatest if it's not really going to be used...

For my first grow I bought a 100 us dollars 400 watt ballast and a 3.5x3.5 tent.

Don't waste much money and I wouldn't get anything over a 400 watt going into the summer, as a first timer it will be more difficult doing a summer grow and a 600 or 1000 water.
