Thumbs up A Noob's Shopping List

    Hey Guys

I made my first post on the site yesterday about whether I should purchase one of the 'all-in-one' KitBag deals from KitbagShop.com. Many users advised me that this would be a bad idea, as their apparent "trusty" carbon filters that are included with the deal, would most probably end with my door getting knocked off the hinges at 04:00 in the morning.
This was vital information for any Noob (like myself) and instead, I'll be purchasing the Ruck or Rvk fans with Rhino Pro filters - a much safer alternative.

There is obviously no shortage of experience amongst the members of this site. So as a suggestion, I thought it would be a good idea to create a Noob's Shopping List in the hope it'll become a 'sticky' thread that all Noobs can easily find and check it out before they make any mistakes like I would have, if it wasn't for the vital advice I had received.

So I'll start by listing some of the items I'll be saving up for:

    • A bag or organic soil (pete, coco or sphagnum-based mediums are also excellent choices)
    • Humidity Clock
    • A Green Room Grow Tent
    • A Small Fan
    • 3", 5", 8" and 12" Grow Pots
    • A Small Bowel (fill with water to control humidity)
    • A 250-watt HID (high-intensity discharged) bulb, HPS (high-pressure sodium) or MH (metal halide). You can also use cheaper version called CFL's which are florescent lights (basically lift-long bulbs).
    • Rhino Pro Carbon Air Filter
    • Ruck or 5" RvK fan

I'm not sure if there is something similar like this on the site, but if there is, I can't find it haha.

So feel free to add your shopping list to this thread to help guys like me who are just starting out and know very little about the trusted equipment out there!

The 80x80x160 orchid tent is a good one to get if you don't want to spend big. Only about 50 60 quid and it's strong with no light leaks at all.. I see a couple different versions of it though so make sure you get the right one.

Thermometer/ hygrometer with probe ( I like that sort).
    Fan controller.
Pipe cleaners to LST or some pea netting if you want to do a scrog.
Good seed genetics is also a must, I recommend incredible bulk for a legendary first grow, a lot of interest in that strain arm.
    Multi purpose compost.
    Perlite 30%
Plant magic old timers grow and bloom
    Bio silicon
    Unsulphered black strap molasses.
    Pots, saucers, watering can.
Sharpie for writing on your plugs, trust me this helps!
Light hangers, 2 for light and 3 for fan and filter
    Gaffer tape. 99p at b and m.
    Mixing bucket.
    Pipettes, measuring glasses.
    Root feed, rhizotonic

I hope some of my suggestions can point you in the right direction, but there are more than one way to skin a cat.
If there's anything else you need to know I can try and help if not there's plenty experts here on thc who will point you in the right direction, your in the right place!

It will get longer. It always does.

There are other things like UV Glasses, a can of Raid, sharp sand or clay pebbles, are a few things that would be useful.
