The 3300 is much nicer than mine, my D3200 s the previous gen. Canon got the capacity for alternative firmware that is a nice option.

Any DSLR will be fine for someone starting out. The camera is only a tool, your imagination and creativity are what will make great images It's like if I buy the same football boots as Messi I'm still going to be shit at football

Right this is what i've got to work with.....

Nikon D5500,24MP Lenses to date 18-55 which came with the kit 18-140 & 70-300 in need a macro lense and tripod and a few other bits an bobs.
My old faithful Lumix TZ40 18MP
GOpro hero 3+ silver may upgrade to the 4 or wait for the 5 to come out
And for aerial stuff a DJI Phantom 3 advanced (Sony sensor) shoots vid @ 1080p 50fps on PAL great for grabbing stills from or 12mp stills...

I've only just got the DLSR so a lot of learning to do here, works great in auto but want to learn how to get the best from her...I had some nice RAW images that i've played with in lightroom with good results...

    Regards BL

So if I was to buy the Nikon D3330 would I be able to shoot decent close up pics of my plants with the lens that comes with it? It's 18-55mm
