New house and space to grow - Scotland

Hi

Was on here introducing myself about a year ago but been busy with new baby and new house.

Now want to get hydroponics system set up in attic or in hut outside?

Can anyone recommend good hydroponics supplier in Scotland?

Moved away from Edinburgh and all my friends who used to grow, now need to get my finger out and get learning and getting on with it.

Would like to be able to buy everything required in one go but not sure about quality?

I can understand the attraction to buy it all in one go. However I think that you will get a more tailor made setup specifically for your needs if you shop around and work out what it is you want before you buy anything.

I think it is best to start with a clear idea of what it is you wish to achieve. So in my case it was to grow one plant for my our own consumption. That mean any grow that produced an ounce minimal was enough. So once I had that sorted it was a little less complicated to work out what I needed to achieve that target.

The next step for me was to decide where the grow was going to happen. This was key because the where will determine the requirements of the how. No point in buying a tent that is 2.2m high if all you have is 1.6m headroom. Physical space will determine to some extent the lights that you can use as well as the tent size.

Once all that is sorted then it becomes real easy. Extractor system and lights.

The other stuff found in the kits are real easy to buy online and are very discreetly packaged for delivery. Heck you could get everything from Amazon I guess.

Yes that helps a lot.

I only need for personal use but space is not a problem in attic.

If this is just for myself for cooking with and vaping then how many plants do I need to grow in year?

I would probably need 10oz per year minimum.

If it is only for myself do I need to go down hydroponics route if I am only needing to grow enough for myself?


Like the idea of organic growing.

The kit has some good stuff for sure. The extractor and carbon filter are top notch and you will be happy with the lights too. Tent is good, I went with the Hydrolab one but Green Cube was my second option.

In all honesty I would not buy a kit. What I can do in a little while is list for you what I got and then compare total cost v kits. Yield is more to do with which kind of plant your grow rather than your kit. Sure the kit will play a part but the strain of plant is key.
