    Post ***Infractions - Please read***

    Hi guys (and gals)

Just to let you know that we have now introduced INFRACTIONS to the forum.

If you are a member of any other forum that uses the system then it will need no introduction....

An Infraction is defined as, 'a violation or infringement of a law or agreement' - In this case our Forum rules (https://www.thctalk.com/cannabis-forum/faq.php)

We all know what will get you an instant ban (think kitchens, class A & cash cropping!), but more & more we are seeing posts that are breaking our, 'single warning & etiquette rules' - we need a simple way of dealing with this (without being heavy handed!)

So we have introduced an Infraction points system...

At present, we have four categories of Infraction:-

    Posting Links
    Insulting other members
    Inappropriate post/language
...and a 'catch all' - Other...

    ----

Posting links - 1 point, 30 day expiry
    Other - 1 point, 30 day expiry
    Insulted Other Member(s) - 2 points, 60 day expiry
Inappropriate post / Language - 2 points, 60 day expiry

All the infractions are 'extended' so if some one, say, posts a link & they receive an infraction then it lasts for 30 days. If they post another link within that 30 day period then the infraction is 30 days & the remainder of the original 30 day infraction...

    Example:-

John Doe posts a link & receives an infraction & then 10 days later they post another link that receives an infraction then original infraction receives 1 point, the second infraction raises it to 2 points and the 2 point infraction then lasts 50 days (30 days for the first (minus the 10 days served) plus the new 30 days equaling 50)

Should a user gain 3 infraction points then an automatic 3 days restricted use of the forum is automatically issued by the system

Should a user gain 5 infraction points then an automatic 3 day ban is automatically issued by the system

(Infractions are wiped from the members record once they expire)

    ----

Could I have some clarification on this posting links thing please.

Not 100% sure I understand what is a link and what is not a link? Are there good links like those that Inky posts which are news items, and what is a bad link. On other forum years ago we had to use code tags to wrap all links, and they had a zero policy on on any live link.

    Thanks in advance.

In our case, a link is classed as any outside link to another site, including to ebay items (use the ebay item number instead). Site names & product names are allowed but linking to the sites aren't allowed... so saying that you can buy X brand filters from ABC site is fine but abc.com/filters is not allowed... breaking links down so that they are not 'live' is also a no-no (abc**********/filters, a b c .com / f i l t e r s & the like)

The rule is as follows:- No advertising of or linking to any items/goods on the forum unless you have asked an administrator first.... Including EBay items!

Exceptions to the rule are links to our sponsors & news articles from news publications.

The easy way of thinking about links is:- does the link take you to a site that is advertising or selling products... if so then no links please

If in doubt then ask first

Cheers for that. I was worried because I posted a link to a pdf article which compared different kinds of lights in my grow log. Went back and can not edit it. You have cleared that up for me, so I can stop stressing about it.

    Thanks.

A lot of it is just using common sense mate, direct links to PDFs are something I regularly do as it seems a bit daft copy & pasting a 20 page document

    Makes good sense Oxy.

Speaking of common sense, my experience lately is that common sense is not that common anymore.
