    Default £5 sip/earthbox?

Hi anyone interested or who may be able to tell me how it can be better?

Since I built my indoor raised bed and installed my blumat drip system life is great but only when my plants take water when they need it. But I think I still have a problem with my inner hydro and keep overwatering now I've killed 3 plants and could possibly be on the way to 3. I mess up at a certain pot size where the top Dries leaving the bottom wet and I'm sure you know the drill lol, but I get around that now by misting the mulch only.

I been doing a lot of reading on these earthbox things and have loved the grokashi idea of creating a mycelia layer as a micro filter to feed through if I need to opt her than That it's watered through the tube and is constantly covered to retain moisture, anyway cheapest I found was £50 so this I thought was a bargain IF IT WORKS!!!!!

    Poundland buckets
They hold 15 liters of soil to the top alowing me to make my bokashi mulch layer so here's the bottom tesevoir with an outlet hole so I do over wet the soil

Then I put 4 pce of pce pipe 2 1/2 inches each to support the top bucket with soil
I used a net pot cut to the same size of the pce pipe to keep it all level

I filled the net pot with a heavy mix of soil and some peat moss hoping they hold water well but I also thought I'd add a couple of shoelaces to help wick water up

And here it is with the soil in

Also here you can see my feed tube which is just another pce of pipe cut to the height suitable for watering
I also just cut a pce out to allow water to pas out easily

Then I filled that shit with soil and here's what it looks like with the cover

And it holds 5 litres of water.

Please excuse the bokashi, mycelia talk etc but you get the idea of where I'm going with this.
It's working on my tomatoe plant so far but it's only been a week so I was thinking of trying a autoflower.
    Would this be enough soil?
    Will my shoelaces rot?
    Bigger res?
Is there anything you would change, I'd love any info before doing a 70 day run lol
    Blessings and grattitude

Ok for anyone who still has a peak in here!!!
She has only had water two top dressed and she's around 70 days from seed still my soil mum done me proud with the watering.

It's hard to get her full potential in

I think she might fill out a bit more, maybe she could of got more top dress one things for sure loads and loads o good mulch or compost would of helped

It's a 60" tele in the back ground

I think I'll try this again with more effort and maybe some known good auto genetics or maybe a photo I dunno something to think about minimal effeort and dollars needed

Soz mate, Im a bit thick, so your raised bed as organic stuff in it, with a net pot coming out the bottom with soil and wicks in it. Youve got a water/feed tube going in and a drain. The surface has active organics in it and is covered to reduce dryness. Is the net pot to keep it suitably drained of too much wateR ?

    Hey dutchy
This is the same soil as my raised bed but this one is fed through the tube with water and the wick keeps the top moist, if I wanted to top feed I'll just let the bottom dry out for a couple days.
The cover was just to keep it moist in the hope it keeps the soil alive really.

There's more I could do here next time round like training properly top dressing properly, imagine if I lollipoped her early and kept it all clear down there I feel I would have a much better bud structure, let alone if she got the weekly malted Barley flour etc

The bed is tottaly different it runs on a blunat dropper system in veg and top fed in flower and has no drainage
    Hope your well brother
    Redz

What would you suggest for a cover for the sip planter? Would any sort of dark plastic work?

If height isn´t really an issue in your groom then I´d make them from 15 or 20 liter buckets and then just use the lid as cover with a hole for the plant to got through and a hole for your water inlet pipe.
