    Default Looking for a mentor,

Hello there, sorry for posting here but I am looking for a mentor to help me through my 2nd grow, waiting on my seeds to come and was hoping to give my mentor the luxury of choosing the soil and nutes I am a U.K. Grower which will obviously limit the type of soil and nutes they can use although should be able to get most of the well known products from amazon & co. I have everything else from my previous grow but if you do need any further info please visit https://www.thctalk.com/cannabis-foru...r-request-here which everything you need to know should be in there on the last page, again apologies for posting here was hoping I would have heard something back by now

Do you want to stay in soil or you will be happy to switch to coco?

It was late last night that you asked in the mentor thread, a lot of members would have been in bed & at work today

...and, before anyone says it.... I steer clear of LED grows

Soil is well soil, and most of the time the guys and gals will grow organically.

Coco which is coconut coir is technically hydroponic growing and will use different nutes and require a different growing technique.

yeah sorry, I do apologise for being impatient. Why would you steer clear of LED grows ? I paid close to £500 just for the light alone as I heard a lot of good things from this grow light hence the price. If I knew a lot of people steer clear from leds I would have just purchased something else.

You will or should find a mentor . But you really need another led grower to help and most of us don't use them yet and some of us who have just don't have the knowledge to mentor you with a led . I'd suggest you go and make friends in the led section and get going from there . No one here would watch you fail but we want the best mentor possible for you

visually, not much, in terms of function, huge

soil is a complete wee ecosystem with microbial & decomposition processes, lots of particles of different sizes and generally holds water v well and is 'ok' for air content although it will over time compact

coco is an 'artificial' growing media, total sterile and inert and needs all it's food given to it in accessible liquid, doesn't hold water as well so more frequent waterings but has far greater air spaces and consistency, generally doesn't compact either

Coco growing is basically Hydroponics, far greater control over your feed & pH and far quicker to remedy a mistake (I currently grow Hydro but would likely always pick coco over soil now)
    Strider's Sup Lemon Haze & L.A. Confidential DWC Good...hopefully...2018

SLH & Incredible Bulk DWC Actually good, honest. 2017

It's a, 'me' thing mate. I've seen others have great results with LED but I haven't been able to duplicate them

I had an 400w LED but get better results from my 250w HPS... but, like I say, that's me & other people do really well with them.

It's not so much growing with LED that I would steer clear of, it's mentoring others. My theory being, if I can't do well with the product then I won't be a good mentor to the student who is using it.... that's what I meant by, "and, before anyone says it.... I steer clear of LED grows" meaning before anyone suggests that I mentor an LED grow, I'm not the person to do it
