Default Stealth chest of drawers 12/12 cfl budget grow

So i did 3 grows previous nothing spectacular but good enough. 3 years on ive got the green fingers bug... so i decided to start over for fun. I want a perpetual grow.

Here is how far i have got...

Ive now sorted the gaps and made it light proof.

I am not sure what to do about ventilation. A small fan and carbon i know i need... any recommendations on a small quiet one. And how to plumb it in such a tight space?

    JOINT TIME!

A 4" fan/filter combo, with a fan controller, should be perfect for that set up

What sort of fan is silent and small in size? And would you say cut hole in back and just vent directly out of that?

Fans are as silent as you make them.... but cheap fans aren't quiet I use RVK fans. The filter will be as big as than the fan....

Yeah, hole in back sounds good

Makes sense, or possibly look into a 150w HPS?

Hmmm i did think of hps... but will it not be better running a cfl over a hps due to heat, and also cost to run?

Heat, probably not too much in it between a 300w CFL & a 150w HPS... but the CFL could get a lot closer to the plant which is good with restricted height like you have.

Running costs? A watt is a watt.... however, there can be up to a 10% increase in wattage from cheaper magnetic ballasts as well as a spike in power in start up (which requires a heavier duty timer)

It's a conundrum mate, the only way to know what's best is to test them both out

Im kind of on a budget so im thinking i can get a decent cfl with reflector for cheaper. The hps's id be looking at in budget would be cheapies and not as efficent... so think after a bit of research im a cfl guy.

BUT im going to local hydro store so will see whats in.

I confused my self so much with fans.. and dont trust ebay description of noise level so hoping they have some i can hear...
