    Default My first NFT grow

Hi all it's my first NFT grow & first time using rockwool cubes. My seeds have sprouted 4 northern lights. About 1" been giving them Rhizo weak solution. Haven't got a clue about when to start with feeding them nutes. I bought some Jungle juice grow bloom & micro. Any tips on feeding or NFT in general is most welcome. I have GT424 system. Thank you.

As soon as your seeds have popped it's time to start feeding. That said, I like to wait until I see the tap root emerge in rockwool starter cubes. I use formulex with seedlings as it's a 1 part feed and nice and mild. Go 0.1 EC above your ambient tapwater value.

As soon as you have roots emerging from the starter cubes it's time to move on to 4" delta cubes. Usually you'll only need to feed once in the small cubes before moving once it's dried out a little.

Make sure you presoak the 4" blocks in water pH'd 5.5 for about half an hour. I then ditch the presoak water and water through with a nutrient solution, the same strength as the starter cubes at pH 5.5 again. You won't need to water the cubes for about a week or until the blocks are significantly lighter. You can then up the feed on the next watering.

As a tip, try to keep the cubes from sitting flat on a plastic surface. You want decent airflow under the cubes to air-prune any roots poking through and encourage roots to fill the blocks. I use a drying rack for washing up.

Wait until there's a decent root mass before moving to the nft trays. You'd be surprised how many roots can cram into a 4" block. I have a mother plant in one and she's about 3 months old:

Yeah cunning knows the score. Make sure you leave the plastic sticker on the cube until the day they go in your 424, as that encourages the roots to go downwards. Keep the top of the cube covered throughout the grow to prevent algae starting. I'd reccommend some liquid silicon to go with your A&B.

I assume you have a PH pen/EC meter?
