I live at 2500 ft. and I put mine out in early May, there already almost 4 ft tall and bushy. I didnt think mine would be this size until the end of next month.

I understand this is an old post, but can anybody tell me how much earlier I should start them indoors? If I was to plan on April 20th or so for transplanting outside, when would be a good time to start them inside?

You could start at the first of March if you wanted to.

If you're looking to be in the ground by April 20 I should hope you have popped your beans already. I really try to give my outdoor girls a month of veg indoor before hardening off and transplanting outside. Make sure their stems have gotten woody and hard, if they're too tender it can be like a magnet for pests and disease. I'll pop on tapa and get a pic up of a stem I'm happy with.
