Default I cant smoke weed anymore after a severe panic attack

I started smoking when i was young, about 11 or 12.I smoked for years and years without any problems, the thought of anxiety never even came into my head when smoking, even after smoking large amounts. Then one day when i was about 21 or 22 i was smoking a pipe and a few minutes after finishing it i start to feel a bit nervous, then my heart starts beating faster and it got faster and faster and then i started to get a tightening feeling around my heart. Then i started to get chest pain and i was shaking pretty badly.I was convinced that i had some heart condition that i did not not know about and i was going to die of a heart attack so i phoned for an ambulance.

The ambulance arrived a few minutes later and the paramedics brought me into the ambulance and hooked me up to a heart rate monitor machine,my heart rate was about 150 bpm and it said extreme tachycardia on the monitor so they said they will have to bring me to hospital to get checked out.On the way down i started to get even more anxious,my heart rate was going up to around 175 bpm and i was getting pain and numbness in my chest and arms. The alarm on the heart monitor machine kept going off and the paramedics were trying their best to calm me down, they looked pretty worried and they kept giving me aspirin to chew on so they must have thought i was going to have a heart attack or a stroke.I was really scared and convinced i was going to die.I started thinking about stuff like my family and wondering if there is a god and an after life.I eventually stopped being scared and just accepted that i was going to die, that's when my heart rate started to go down, the paramedics looked relieved.

When i got to the hospital they done all kinds of tests on me and couldn't find anything wrong with me,they said it was a severe panic attack caused by smoking weed and they sent me home.

Needless to say this experience traumatized me and now anytime i smoke weed, even a tiny crumb in a pipe i start to get anxious the second the effects hit me,it doesn't matter whether its sativa or indica, they both give me anxiety, not as bad as that attack i had but if i smoked enough of it,it would happen again,im sure of that.

I have not smoked weed in years and i really miss it.I miss the relaxing feeling it gave me and the way i enjoyed things more on it and the giggles.I started using kratom as a substitute when i stopped smoking it and that was good for the first couple of years but then i started getting a tolerance to it and it lost its magic so now i'm thinking of just giving the stuff up cause it doesn't really do much anymore and taking tolerance breaks does not work anymore like it used to.

I have heard of people who get weed anxiety smoking imported hash like moroccan or afghani and it does not give them anxiety like weed does.It has a lower thc content and a higher cbd content so gives the smoker less of a head high and more of body high,so less paranoia and anxiety.I was thinking of trying this to see how it affects me.Do you guys think i should ? I have a small amount of diazepam to take in case things go wrong.

Smoke hashish instead. Forget the Diazepam.

The hash won't make a difference or if it does it won't last for long
And you will have more panic attacks.
Just face the fact you can't have it anymore : ) not
Easy but that's the way it goes.your nervous system can't handle it
    Anymore.

Diazepam, (or ANY of the compounds from that quite large drug family) is an iffy proposition. IANAD, but your situation sounds more psychological than anything else, to me. Think about the details prior to that ER visit and see if there is some other explanation. Bad/spiked weed? Dehydrated? Lots of factors to examine before any conclusion blaming it on THC "per se" can be drawn.

Why do you want to take Cannabis, anyway?

I have had anxity since iv been about 14ish so i know whats its like to have a panic attack, hot flushes etc.

Cannabis isnt the reason your having problems while smoking but your mind assotiating a danger with smoking whitch results in paranioa after smoking.

Thats basicly what anxiety is assotiaton of dangers to unrelative things.

If your lookimg to get into smokig again then smoke less and dont bother with hash or concentrates. Just remember its impossable to overdose it would take a house full in 15 mins to kill you. And its impossble to have a heart attack unless you already have a heart condition whitch you havnt becase im guessing youve had a ecg. So stop worrying and start relaxing.

I know this thread is a bit old, but you can't trust EMT or similar telling you that any episode is because of something like weed - especially when it's known that while in some cases long term use can lead to complications, most 'complications' are just conditions that are already present being exasperated. I know from experience that anyone who is logged to have a history of any kind of drug use will have all of their issues put down to that.
I know someone who was a very dependent alcoholic for a long time who has been sober for well over a decade who still has her mental health issues blamed on alcohol use.

It's imperative that you talk to a specialist, it may not even be the weed that is making you anxious, it may be a condition you have that causes anxiety and your brain has attached that anxiety to the action of smoking weed; that is to say not to just smoke up, but it'd be a good idea to investigate if it's something else not just 'weed is bad causes anxiety'

I would point out that a lot of mental health conditions 'act up' and become diagnosed around 21-25 year group as that's when symptoms start to interrupt people's lives with growing responsibility etc - a lot of anxiety causing conditions are in this group.

    ----

I want to drop in the second night I got out of hospital I smoked up a few grams, popped down some diazepam and drank a litre of gin.
I was rolling on the tiled floor downstairs in my underwear because I felt too warm. No heart attack.

Too late to edit that post, I just wanted to add maybe try edibles instead of smoking - not potent ones, just some weak ass edibles. The brain is a powerful thing though if you believe that doing a certain action will cause a consequence your brain can make it happen - positive and negative, it's something we can observe but don't understand too well.

Anyway I hope you do well OP, and best of luck. Please ask to see a specialist even if it's just to rule out any psychiatric issues.

I remember not smoking for a while and me and my mate decided to get a q and smoke it that night, I had a white out like i'd never had before, pressure rushing to my head couldn't stand up, I fell against a wall, hands shaking like crazy. I remember thinking then I was never going to be able to smoke weed again. LIES slept it off and all fixed with a wake & bake after.
