Is there a finite timescale?
I've super-cropped photo's, much more severe than LST'g, well into 12/12 to curb vertical growth and give me some sub light space to work within, didn't seem to upset the plants too much.
We ain't growing orchids, don't be scared to crack the whip, they'll love you for it
