I just want to say thank you for this Blue.

I asked a few questions today which I wouldn't have needed to had I read this. I think this should definately be a sticky as us new growers could spot it easily then.

    Cheers again pal.

So when determine EC you take your tap water for example at 0.2. Add your rhizo, silicone etc then check EC again let's say it's now 0.4.
Your target EC is 1.1 do you then add 0.7 EC of nutrients to make it up to 1.1 EC or would it be Add 1.1 EC (1.1 + 0.4 bg) of neutrients to make a total of 1.5?

    Thanks

Get an EC pen mate, make sure its calibrated properly, and then just measure the EC of the water as it comes out of the tap. Unless you usually let it stand for 24 hours before feeding, then in that case, measure it then. The background EC is the water with no added nuits in it, and goes towards your overall ec. You just get the EC meter and dip it into the water and itlll give you a reading.
