I've placed 3 deep bowls filled with water in my grow tent and occasionally use my kettle filled with boiling water to get some water vapor goin in there.

The RH is on 44% now
It's not water depth which raises your humidity, it's a larger water surface area.

I might be reading this wrong but the op states that the veg period of the plants is almost over. If they're autos then I thought they were 12/12 all the way??

Hang a wet towel in the groom, that'll raise the RH for as long as the towel remains wet.

A true AUTO (chuckles to self) should enter its flowering phase at 3-4 weeks, irrespective of the light cycle they under, however, given this fact, better to keep them under as much light as possible, more light = more bud. I ran my last autos 24/7, this time I've had to change to 12/12 to trigger the flowering process.

No, you can choose any light cycle, 12/12, 18/6, even 24/0. I'm growing with 18/6.

for peace of mind this covers rh nicely, just need a bucket of water to plop it in,in tent or outside near air-in vent(so it gets sucked into tent)

ive had mine connected to a timer and just had it running 10mins every 40mins in the worst low RH episodes.

    eBay item number:
    272569658005

40% Should be fine. I have vegged in lower RH and still had a nice harvest I think RH is more important while they are really small, (and of course during flowering) once they have a decent amount of vegetation they can retain enough juice in their leaves... Also more vegetation = higher RH.

AS long as you can keep it above 40% you'll be fine imo. buckets of water and wet towels are a good way to raise the RH if you need to for free
