About 200 bucks 152 or your money, pulling 450W, I would say that is a good deal. Last time I was looking at these here in the states, they wanted around 400 bucks for them. JMO

That's a lot of money for something that probably couldn't out grow a 600w HPS....

That what I thought, but I found one that they sell in uk only for 152 of your dollars. Almost didn't belive it my self, just google Budmaster x9 and see for your self. It might have been on Amazon. No sale to the USA.

your looking at the wrong light. this is the one i'm talking about
    https://www.hydrohobby.co.uk/media/e...-light-fa5.jpg

regarding hps? these cob lights fix the LED issue with christmas tree lights. even if your running a 600w HPS a lot of that light wattage you think should be there is wasted to heat. alot of the power is also used to create a green spectrum of light which the plant doesn't use. then, you also have the ballast efficiency.

the cobs do away with that, while your using less watts with the led, more of the light it emits is the correct type for the plant to use as energy, with not too much energy wasted on heat for the wattage. a hps will waste of green and lots of heat. co2 can also increase your yields by 20% with a hps.

A very good light albeit pricey. Not a fan of the osram cobs but still would give a HID a run for its money in output and PAR per watt

My preference is anything based on the cree cxb3590 Ebay 253307781413

your right but the hps bulb uses a lot more power and wastage of power in the green light spectrum. so the led can run at a lower wattage and still produce more substantial yield, while at the same time being much more pleasurable to work with. the leds also point straight down instead of wasting light reflecting omni directionally like a hps does. these new leds can also have what you might call a dimmable ballast. these leds can be changed up in wattage or down up or down depending on weather for example....you don't need to swap the bulbs and have a digital ballast like with hps.

Im totally agreeing with you. Total cost of ownership is lower and as they become more ubiquitous that will come down even more

I have use LED'S for 9 years, from the cheap one's to the expense ones like California Light cycles. As for as growing great buds and keeping heat down they are great. But there is nothing like an HPS to grow fat dense heavy buds. The over all price is cheaper with the HPS. As long as you can control your heat, you are much better off with HPS, than the LED'S. After 9 years, I am back to 400W HPS-MH, and loving it. lol

shoud i put up a grow journal on this do you think? the device only uses 450watts but a 600w hps would not get 450w worth of light to your grow

The current state of the art, in theory, has LEDs on par (mind the pun) and exceeding HID and at higher efficacy but in practice there is work to be done still. This is simply in terms of engineering and application of the technology Vs the tried and tested high pressure bulb.

With the terrawatts of power being burned in the US and elsewhere growing commercial weed, innovation will demand that HID is redundant within 5 -10 years. My prediction at least.... a bit like incandescent light bulbs

If you haven’t already, look into 315w LEC/CMH setups. If there was such thing as a 500w hps then they would be about the same as that. Not quite as good as 1 600w HPS, but Gram Per Watt they’re mega efficient. I’ve got 3 in a 1.2 tent so now at 945w and the heat off all of them is about the same as 1 600hps.
