Wilma with pebbles is being a disaster so far! Help!
So iv got a Wilma under 600w HID, iv put some seedling under them (they were 1 week old). The seedling were started off in 1x1" rock wool cubes, placed in the pots which are full of clay pebbles.
I set the timer to water once when the lights turn on, Iv read its best 15mins every 2 hours but onto this... The pants are showing signs of overwatering, and decreased growth rate by a ton. i cant get my head round it, i check the rock wool at lights out (am running 18/6) and there dry. Why on earth are they showing signs of overwatering?!
I love the wilma but clay pebbles are a pain compared to coco, although am sure the results are worth it if you can get it right.
Also just cos i feel like having a moan, how annoying is it guessing the right amount of ph down to use! Putting a few drops in, waiting for it to mix then adjust again. It kills me haha
Anyways, yer having a night mare so tips are needed please from someone who knows what there doing because clearly i don't, i thought i did but i obviously don't
But the overwatering thing has me truly confused, btw temps at at lights on are a steady 26c and lights off about 19c

Maybe just handwater till you have a good root system in place.
Were they well rooted in the block when you put them in the pebbles?
If not then it will be a struggle to get going especially under a 600w.
What kind of humidity do you have?Domes on the pots help greatly at this stage.

there were roots out the bottom only a couple of strands and they weren't long but i thought that was the sign to move them.
I thought i couldn't leave them in the propagator box with roots coming out the bottom or the roots would see the light and die.
the ones which didn't have roots out the bottom really suffered and i moved them back into the propagator yesterday and they seem a lot happier now, i might have saved them.
How much should the roots come out the bottom and should i have put them in the 3" cubes before putting them in the pots?

i would have rooted out the 3'' cubes first, with hydroton/wilma you definitely want good root development first,
7 days old they would only be starting there first set of true 3 finger leaves,

Yes.
Rooting into a 3" cube would have been better.
You must ensure you have a good root system in place before putting in any hydro system

Hey guys. I'm using a wilma 4 pot system and intend to plant 3 inch rockwool cubes into hydroton filled pots. I'm confused as to how often to feed them and more specifically where to place the drippers as I do not want to over saturate the RW.
Also, instead of using the drippers. Can I use a drip ring attached to feed around the rw cube using a 24/7 feeding schedule to try and promote the roots to branch out and seek the water?
