If what you have in your compost bin is well rotted then theres not much point digging it over and putting it on now unless you have something to put in it cos by the time you want to put something in the ground the weeds will have come up and you'll need to dig it again. Plus if you're in the UK the ground must be wet and digging soggy soil just does your back in.

Nice T , start them indoors a few weeks beforehand , roots crops is not necessary , but tomatoes n peppers and non cold hardy plants is a must to start indoors .

Those potatoes will do a good job of breaking up the soil for you.

I can send you a crown of rhubarb if you want one twisted. I've got a huge plant in the garden that could do with splitting. Sooner rather than later though

I have an allotment so i do abit of veggies myself. Blood, fish and bone is a decent fert for potatoes. Soil wise you want to double dig if using new ground. Also chit the potatoes and plant. You wont need to water potatoes that much unless its a dry spell. And i would still check to make sure. Look for potato blight. Yiur guarenteed tocget it umless you use a resistent variety such as sarpo mira.
