You can’t dim a std hps/mh bulb without ruining the spectrum,I say it all the time,no one listens to me though so crack on.

It's nice to be nice.
Just pulled this from another forum
hello fellow growers
now i dont know if you have been warned about this before but im going to put it out there for you all anyway
i got my self a omiga pro dimmable ballast a few moths ago and i veg under MH light and flower under HPS so as its a dimmable ballast i got my self 2 600w lamps one of each so i put the 600w MHlamp in the shade and put the setting to 250w and the light dont show the usual blue light but a green thinking this would be ok i left it for a few weeks and that was my mistake the plants stretched loads after seeing this i put the setting up to 400 and the lamp has a nice blue tone to it and the plant stopped stretching
so what im saying here is if you are going to veg with the MH lamp then its best to use the right size lamp for the setting you have the ballast on dont make the same mistake i did as your plants will suffer for it
you might be able to get away with using a 400w MH in the 250/400 setting and i know you can get away with using a 600w MH on the 400w setting but use a 600w MHon the 250 setting and you will see the lamp dont burn blue
Fucking dont like duel spectrums bulbs either man, they waste so much any and barley have the right light spectrum for growing weed. Some people swear by them though, each to thier own, but the whole blue spectrum, to red and back again makes sense to me. Look at the chart on most DS bulbs and the light charts are well off what you really want, it gives green and yellow ffs!! lol
