    Default Propagator or not?

    Hi All,

I've read conflicting advice whether to use a propagator or not.

I've read that it can be a breeding ground for fungal nasties and that it can cause humidity levels which are too high. Surely this could be the case if you stuck it in a propagator and paid no attention to the humidity/heat levels.

Do you use a propagator? recommended or not?

    TIA

Yes mate, for shoots, and cuttings it's good to use a prop because of the high humidity, the plant doesn't have much root yet, the high humidity will help it absorb moisture through the leaves. Don't need them in there for any longer than a week though, once roots are established well, you can take them out

Some do mate, I have the same, 8w heated prop, does the job lovely. This cat can be skinned many ways lol.

    What I do:

Soak the seeds for a few hours in warm water to soften the shell. They'll float at first, give them a tap after a couple of hours see if they sink. When they do sink, mine go into small pots and into the prop.

So will do this and then put them into a paper towel, on a saucer, wrapped in cling film until tap root shows, then plant. I think seeds are reliable as fuck nowadays, and as long as you got good genetics, they'll probably all pop, so straight in the prop for me.

Some people don't have props, so will plant and then use a plastic bottle as a make shift prop until they're stable.

I thnk prop is the best way, but there are many ways todo it.

You dont need props thats for sure. For seeds its just a big no no. And cuttings yes maybe but only if you cant keep humidity high enough. If you have a humidifier then you dont need to use a prop.

Heated prop for me. Only use it to house the cuttings though. Seeds are left out of it. Cuts don't have roots, that little seed does 👍
