Thanks for advising me down the right path today Ironman and Joker.
Tomorrow im gonna use this plastic airtight pot (is it big enough or too tight) with the damp paper towels inside wrapped in a black bag to block light and place in it my heated propagator, this sound ok

I know the seeds have only been in the water for a matter of a few hours but I checked them and 3 of the 4 sank when I poked them already. Not sure if this is a good sign or not

That looks fine mate, I use little pots about 30mm square for mine and wrap them in a pair of thick winter socks. Just don't let them dry out or get them too wet. The idea is to warm up the moisture in the pot to raise humidity without it running dry.😉

Take the ones that sunk out for a few minutes and then put them back in. Your basically softening the seed casing making it easier for the seedling to shed it when it's ready to.
If they sink the air inside has dissipated, meaning they are soaked right through. Sometimes if you are a bit quick not all the air is removed and that slows the whole process down.

Seeds taken out for 5 mins then put back in and all afloat again

So they all sank this morning and have been put to bed in the air tight container in my heated prop. The pH of the solution had risen to 6.3 over night, is this normal?
