Be careful going into a consumer unit, seen so many examples of fires starting here.

Just make sure all terminals are tight and you'll be sound.

Like Badger says, the majority of issues stem from wrong torque on the terminal screws. Electricians use torque drivers for this reason and that's why they make they boxes out of metal now.

I won't touch them, always gets sparky mate to do fuse board end. I do everything else though

    Hiya AND
I put a new mcb in my board and connected the wires that I connected to some sockets.
Question is when I turn the sockets on the board trips not the new mcb Would you know what I my have done wrong?

    Cheers for any reply’s

    Morning,

I'd suggest something is wired incorrectly, which part of the consumer unit trips?

Lol mate yes me thinks that too but not sure where.
It’s the main switch that trips not the mcb that I put in.
I’m no sparky but think my main board can’t handle the extra mcb maybe 😊

Nice one badger for the reply 👍🏼

Take some pictures of the extra mcb and the wiring you have put in . It’s the easiest way to sort this out
