Default Medicinal Grow mentored by Bethmeg

Evening all, As I found out recently that my Dad has Pancreatic Cancer and the fact that Cannabis seems to have some amazing medically researched properties, I thought I'd give growing some medicine for him a go. Unfortunate that this behaviour is illegal in UK but I reckon helping my Dad out is worth the risk.

Anyway, my 9 sq ft by 7ft high grow tent is set up with a basic 600w Omega SH with carbon filter vented to outside. I have had 9 seeds in water all day, all but one sank with 3 showing shoots already, I have just wrapped them in wet kitchen roll, stuck them in sandwich bags and left them in a warm place, hopefully they will all have sprung to life in the morning.Click image for larger version.

    Evening all,

Ok guys, Day 2 of germination and Ive had the seeds in damp paper towels and wrapped in sandwich bags since yesterday evening, I decided to take them out of the bags earlier to get some air to the emerging taproots whilst they are still in the propagator above the Aga. Im still a bit unsure of the way to go for potting them, Ill either go with seed plugs or straight into coco, I plan to grow them to maturity in the coco with canna nutes. Please feel free to point out any noob mistakes I may or may be about to make guys!

Hey All, Day 3 and I took a quick peek at my seeds before work, they've stretched a bit overnight!

I see you have your diary elsewhere so I shall lock this thread....

And its Day 4 of my Grow,

I looked in on them before work thus morning and my damp paper towel wrapped seeds had sprouted a root between 10 and 15mm, I decided to go for potting them in John Innes seed sowing compost with a small amount of Perlite mixed in.

Once the seeds were in and labelled I watered them lightly with boiled, cooled water as I reckon this will have taken the Chlorine out.

They are now in a water sprayed (to create humidity) propagator in a warm place above the Aga, temp is about 24*C. Ive placed a dark tea towel over them to keep the light out.

Will hopefully see some nice green coty's soon! Click image for larger version.

First off can I say I'm so sorry to hear of your dads illness.

This makes me even more determined to help you get some lovely bud for him.

It takes a lot of bud to make a little medicine so I dont think we will be on to a cure all here.
Will you be making oils, edibles or is this just for the lovely herb??

Fingers crossed indeed! It was a fairly hot day, well for here anyway! Probably 18ish?! A close friend of mine has a spare cfl bulb and ballast he could loan me, that should run a lot cooler than the sodium halide shouldnt it?

A cfl bulb does not need a ballast and is only useful for the vegetative stage.

Whats this sodium halide you speak of? Does it give off blue or red light when lit?

More dry runs you can do before the plants go in the better.

If you had temps of 37 when the outdoor temp was only 18 then its gonna be tough.

Hey Beth, Its a High Pressure Sodium bulb, my mistake! Its a dual spectrum apparently.

I did a dry run earlier between 12.30 and 13.30
    Inside the garage was 17.5.
Inside the tent was 33.2 with 11 rh!
    Doesnt look promising does it?

One of my seeds sprouted today too! Click image for larger version.
