I dont know how people are keeping 250W cfls that close to plants i have fried plants by being that close. I dont have an oscillating fan either just a fan that comes on to cool the light throught lights on. My bulb is about 6 inches now any lower and it burns my hand which to hot for plant aswell. (Bulb is 250 actual wattage not equivalent)

I ran 2x 125w CFL bulbs with no oscillating fan. A couple of times I got some light bleaching but nothing serious.

Well look man, if the light is burning, then obviously move it up. For most of my CFL grow i just finished, i had the lights about 3-4 inches from the plants. And i know other forum users -specifically AND- who keep CFL quite far away with good results. Do what works in your situation

Also-i used no fan at all in my grow so that would not contribute to the temperature difference in my case

no i get that That is something i have found from growing-other peoples advice , while amazingly helpful, is not always applicable to your own situation. A lot of it is guesswork and luck
