The cheese may be ok, the mould spores need to get into the plant via an injury. So if it hasn’t taken, and there hasn’t been any recent snaps or removal of leaves, it may be ok. Some strains are also more resistant than others and airflow matters too.
If it need more time, try and give it more time, remove the rot, and be vigilante as fuck for any more developing
