Hey guys sorry had a little question on this topic so thought I'd jump on...

Do you need to have an intake fan? Is it important? I mean I wont over strain my outtake fan or anything will it?

If you need more flow, adding an inlet fan is one solution. It works in series with the extract in a push pull arrangement

The need for a fan controller increases however, to ensure a vacuum is maintained

I use a 6" RVK L1 split 3 ways and get negative pressure in all 3 tents, 1.5x1.5x2.0 - 900x900x1800 - 900x900x600 and 2 4" RVK's for inlets. I have inlets on cheap £6 speed controllers to give the small tweaks both connected to Inkbird temp controllers. Have 28° in 1.5m tent, 27° in 900x900 and 22° in 900x600

Am thinking about an Evo or SMS controller but not just yet

I've never had an intake fan. I think the rule of thumb is your passive intake hole needs to be around of 2 x the size of your outtake, I tend to go a little bit more maybe 3 x and I always have the outtake on a minimum of 50% tickover.

I don't use inlet fans whatsoever

Think of an inlet fan as a booster. It's like having a short duct run when it could be very long.

Bear in mind though, the flow of the system will never exceed the flow of the the most restrictive component

So do you leave one of the pull string openings open in your ten then? I was thinking of doing this but was then concerned with some light leak. Not sure what people do for this, I've seen some one way air intake things from B&Q, maybe they would be good?

Just put some ducting through the vent with a few bends in.

Unless you use a larger extraction fan than the intake fan then there will always be a vacuum, i find a controller is only needed to quiet down noisy fans runnin at full pelt when not needed

Very true ched but that can limit the flow of the big fan quite a bit I found. Sucking 6 inches through 4 inches or 8 through 6

With led mukka you won't need full pelt ever
