Some will hermie, others won't... but why take the chance when you can do 24/0 if light leaks are an issue
It's Not What You Know, It's What You Can Prove
i'm hoping it's not going to happen m8 i just haven't seen much said about autos whilst lights out like i have done about photos and i know it's coz that's what photos go off
and i thought the difference between 18 and 20 light schedule would only be small is that not right
cheers
A lot will really depend on the stability of the genetics. I've had some strains that I just couldn't get to hermie by stress (I used colloidal silver in the end) - which reminds me... I need to get back to doing a little breeding as I did a few year ago
LOL mate M_C is having a bit of fun with you.
With Auto's you can run them at pretty much any light cycle you want. 18/6 just happens to be the most common. Many many folks will run their Auto's 24 hours. I like to let them have some dark for a number of reasons. Plus the equipment likes the down time too.
But to answer your question it will not make any difference to your girls if they have light leakage. Mate you are going to be opening your tent so many times to look at them, assuming this is your first grow. So don't stress. I used to have the lights off from 10am till 4pm each day during winter so that the lights were a heat source and helped with the electricity. No heater to run you see.

I was going to have lights off from 12am to 6 am thinking about helicopters but I’m not sure if they use thermal just as much in the day, I have been told my lights wouldn’t give off that much heat though so then thought to have lights off from the same time as you 10-4 as I’m usually at home most of the time and don’t like to think of the lights being on when I’m out for any reason and it would likely be between them hours
Cheers

Helicopters? Mate not sure how much heat that LED is going to push out but doubt very much it will heat the bricks and building materials any more or less than say a PC. Why do I say this, well my daughters PC runs a 1500W Power supply for her gaming rig. Tipple Sli graphic cards often mean she is pulling over a Kw from the PSU. That is way more heat that your 300w LED is ever going to produce. Thermal imaging from police helicopters will not even notice your set up, when you have a flat that is like 40'C radiating heat from the brick work cos there are 12 1000W DE HPS lamps growing 44 plants in a lounge then for sure the heat signature is noticeable.
Just think about it. Folks have reptile tanks that they keep at 28'C and higher for their pets. Bar heaters, you could list 100 houshold items that will produce a higher heat signature than your grow space.
Especially if you have a extraction fan going. Where is the ducting venting out too? If you vent directly out your window and it is street facing then yeah that might not be smart, unless it is a tumble dryer type vent. But have seen folks with effing big 10" ducting just hanging out of their window, true story. LOL
A few year back I would have been having a bit of fun but these days I'm finding the stability of auto strains, at best, questionable Too many phenotypes & too many seeds that won't auto....
On a stable strain, I wouldn't overly worry about light leaks but on a not so stable strain I wouldn't take chances A shame really as it negates one of the beauties of autos
