Default Help Please! Is this Bud Rot? Root Rot? Pests?

    Hello fellow growers.

First time grower here hoping to get some help.

I planted 2 seeds (Early Skunk Feminized) outdoors a few months ago.
They were growing well and had started to flower when, about 6 weeks ago, I had to go out of town for 8 days.
Unfortunately, those 8 days turned out to be a crazy heat-wave (36 degree weather) and the guy who was supposed to water them forgot to come.

When I got back, the plants were severely dehydrated with many of the leaves turning brown.

I tried to revive them but 1 plant went all dry & brown pretty quickly (photo 4 below) while the other seemed to get better for a couple of weeks but is now going brown too (photos 1-3 below) and I think it will be completely brown & dead in a week.

Anyone have some ideas what this is?
Is it bud rot? Root rot? Pests?

Thanks a lot and have a great day,
    NoviceGrower

Looks like they have dried out beyond the point of recovery which seems strange given the chillies are doing ok....They would have stood a better chance if the fan leaves hadn't have been hacked off or did they drop due to lack of water ?

Right... it's so strange how healthy the pepper plant is and to be completley dried with zero green. Very suspect.

Hi folks and thanks for the replies.
No one has access to our garden so poisoning isnt an option.
All the other plants in my garden (peppers, tomatoes, beets, herbs...) dried out while I was gone but they all bounced back.
But the 2 cannabis plants were hit the worst.
And strangely, the new growth on the surviving plant looks almost decent.
    Very confusing...

They are very resilient plants and bounce back fast as long as their is life left. My guess is that the plants that died lost the battle to the other plants fighting for water.

    Thanks CityDweller
I thought of that, but seems strange that the 2 cannabis plants, in 2 separate containers, are the only ones that die while the other plants survive.
Also, the fact that the (so far) surviving cannabis plant is actually growing new buds which look somewhat healthy makes me doubt this is an issue with water.

That's what made me think it might be bud rot, or some other Cannabis specific disease, or pests.

Attaching more photos to show the new buds growing on the dying plant.

    Thanks

Has it been covered with anything, it’s strange this one. Maybe the ph of the soil is too high, the other plants have enjoyed it, but the ganja not so much.
