Broken Net Pots after grow

Hello after my first DWC grow I was attempting to separate the root ball from the net pot, the big thick rope like roots had actually broken through some of the sections of net pot, am I to think this is normal and net pots should be treated as disposable after a single grow?

Also I saw someone snip some sections of net pot out beforehand so that the holes were bigger? Anyone done that

there around £14 for 10 - they don't last since there only support nets
