Default Buds smell and taste like hay - first grow/harvest

Harvested last week friday. Been about 6 days. Now in jars. buds turned crisy but stems dont snap put into jar but cut up buds with the stem/stalk attached into jars and burping every 6-8hours.

Buds hardly smell dank.. smell like hay and taste is very bland hay like..

What do i do? i have ordered humidipacks*

what temp & humidity where they dried at?
did you point a fan directly at the buds and dry em too quick?

that hay taste is usually a result of drying too quickly

as they cure the chlorophyll will break down and they'll smell better in 3-4 weeks hopefully

first day or 2 was 24C with 60-70RH
then 19-21C with 50-60 RH (next day or 2)
then cripsy and put into jars..
fan was blowing on the side of the tent under buds

As above but I’ve always used apple or a fruit that could already enhance the flavour it’s supposed to be 😃🇬🇧

a single freshly stabbed grape per jar works well n all.adds a slight "winey" flavor hint to the taste though.but has resucitated erb for me in the past

Did you chop and hang the whole plant then perform a dry trim? I’d recommend you give this method a try next time. 60% rh 17-20c temps. This helps retain those smells and flavours

Sorry to ask daft questions mate but do you mean just chop the main stem then hang?

And do you trim once the stems snap or the leaves crisp?

Myself I like to take off the main fans, ensure enough green comes off to allow airflow & then hang....

& yes, trim up when dried

...that said, often I will trim wet to save time

I've had this happen before when my area was entirely too hot and my humidity was down when drying. From my experience the humidity packs usually take some of the smell away but are outstanding when it comes to keeping the buds at optimal freshness. That being said buds dried too quickly almost will never recover flavor or smell. I cured mine for 2 months and they still tasted and smelled like crap, a little less like crap but nothing like it should have been..
