I am going to tag along. I was thinking of adding led strips to my walls for side lighting.

I am up for this. Gardro was kind enough to give me some pointers earlier via PM. Subbed.

So lets get this design rolling

    POWER REQUIREMENTS

The starting point for this is the canopy space which, in this case, is 19"x12"

Tried, tested and accepted watt requirement( not scientific but anecdotal ) is 30 -50 led watts per sq ft

We have ~1.5 sq ft canopy so will require 50-75w of leds

    STRIP SELECTION
In the interest of budget, we will select the Bridgelux EB series generation 2 strips. These offer upto 180 lumens per watt, not all that far from the LM561C which we have got to know in the invisible sun boards

They are available in 1 foot, 2 foot and 4 foot. Our space has selected the 1 foot for us (280mm)

These 1 foot strips have an absolute maximum current of 700mA and typically run at 20.5V. Quick maths 0.7 x 20.5 = 14.35W per strip

Its prudent to run devices around 75% of maximum to give better efficiency and longer reliability. We will aim to run at around 500mA @ 20V = 10W

On that basis we will need 5 to 7 strips to meet our power requirement. Im thinking 5 since you dont have head room but lets see

Are you with me so far Gaz?
