    POWER REQUIREMENTS

The starting point for this is the canopy space which, in this case, is 19"x12"

Tried, tested and accepted watt requirement( not scientific but anecdotal ) is 30 -50 led watts per sq ft

We have ~1.5 sq ft canopy so will require 50-75w of leds

    STRIP SELECTION
In the interest of budget, we will select the Bridgelux EB series generation 2 strips. These offer upto 180 lumens per watt, not all that far from the LM561C which we have got to know in the invisible sun boards

They are available in 1 foot, 2 foot and 4 foot. Our space has selected the 1 foot for us (280mm)

These 1 foot strips have an absolute maximum current of 700mA and typically run at 20.5V. Quick maths 0.7 x 20.5 = 14.35W per strip

Its prudent to run devices around 75% of maximum to give better efficiency and longer reliability. We will aim to run at around 500mA @ 20V = 10W

On that basis we will need 5 to 7 strips to meet our power requirement. Im thinking 5 since you dont have head room but lets see

Are you with me so far Gaz?
Yep with you mate no worries. I dont fully get the math ect but I get the general idea

    5 bridgelux strips maybe 7

    DRIVER SELECTION
Based on 5no strips at 20V forward voltage and constant current operation, we will connect the strips in series. This string will require ~100V of forward voltage. 500mA will run through it all

The Meanwell HLG-80H-C700 will give us upto 129V and upto 700mA for a maximum power of 80W Cost ~£30

If we select 7 strips, the forward voltage increases to 140V so we will require HLG-120H-C700 Cost ~£35

So in terms of spacing and layout of the strips, its a shame you only have 12 inches to play with. We will have to run the strips like this, but we can get creative

7 may work better to cover the entire space with a layout like this. It would involve longer runs of aluminum but the ends of the space will get more PAR

If we had 14 inches, we could have run them all vertically in the diagram and nice and even, but hey ho

Ok cool 7 is fine if I cant get them, its like 4 to 6 weeks lead time every where. I like the idea of that design

Also theres is a HLG-120H-C700A and a HLG-120H-C700b does it matter which one ?
