Default Answered: Humidity at 50% during flower. Can I suffer from bud rot?

Long time guys. Recently started growing again. About 4 weeks into flower and the humidity outside is really up and down in the UK. Lights on ranges between 45-65% and lights off ranges between 40-55% as I have an electric heater timed to switch on during lights off. Temp is 23 deg with lights on and i keep it at around the 20 mark with lights off. Can I still suffer from bud rot with humidity between these ranges?

  2. "65% is a bit too high, around 50% is good with plenty of airflow around & fresh air being exchanged. No direct fans on the bud"

how much air circulation do you have? low rH and higher temps really help but moving air is even better at stopping mold spreading
with it warmer than 20c that helps prevent fungus spores from germinating in the first place, the circulating air stops them spreading and low rH stops any moisture forming

I have an 8 inch thermo controlled black orchid. But it only runs with lights on. The extraction runs 24/7. It was ok a couple of weeks back. Was down to 37%. But the humidity here is now out of control. Should I run inline 24/7 aswell? I have a temp gauge outside the tent and it has registered at 68% humidity for the past week or so.

You might want to invest in a dehumidifier. I done a few grows without one and the RH in the UK is a pain to deal with. I ended up with bud rot on a few of the bigger buds when my RH was around 65% even with decent airflow. Picked up a dehumidifier this time around and it appears to be doing the job great. It will also bring your temps up a couple of degrees which might help you.

Ive got humidity at nearly 70% at moment all though it not ideal ,the key is for me at least keep temps up lights off and air flow at full ..meaning I run up to 8 clip on fans above and below the plant canopy and also run intake and out take fans at full speed 24/7 whilst maintains room temps...never had bud rot yet

RH has dropped significantly now. Was sitting in the low 40's today. I'll give it a week. If it rises, I will invest in dehumidfier

Rh is a nightmare to deal with here i live in a breadbin n walls are just 2" thick n whatever happens outside affects me immediately, most often its down to luck for me ,even having both a humidfier and a de-hum doesnt mean i get any control ,specially if a fog arrives during night etc.
the weather peeps give the freezes as starting from next week so time to invest in some spare tent fans i reckon, long as i keep the air moving and then extracted i usually survive rot free.

if the last summer was anything to go by,its going to get super cold this year, was -6 in front room last year at times ,had to give up trying any serious growing

good luck with grow chap, remember to keep that air moving at all times, dont let any foliage touch up against other foliage n maybe even get a spare filter as damp will kill filters quickly, nothing worse than a filter crapping out ,plants stinking and no instant replacement nearby.
