Default Answered: Tap water ph ( united utilities )

Over the last couple of days I?ve had an issue when mixing my feed up.....as I don?t alter my feed much I know exactly how much ph down to add before taking readings ...anyway what I?ve now noticed is all of a sudden my tap water + feed = ph of 5.7-.5.8 without any ph down used or needed ....my ph pen has checked out fine in calibration fluids....has anybody else using united utilities as their provider noticed anything similar ,also is it possible the water treatment and additives may have changed ect ...has anybody ever had similar events ...thanks in advance.....sorry should have added normally my 25l mix needs almost 1ml ph down to suit however no it dosnt need any
Or perhaps my pen has finally expired

I don't mean temp of the probe, I mean temp of the reservoirs etc

If you have heavy rainfall near the source, you can get different run off entering the supply which alters and buffers

If you go to your water providers web site you should be able to enter your post code & it should give you the full rundown of the water you are recieving

I'm with UU and it is normally 7.2 out of the tap and zero ec. Just checked and it is 7.1 and 0.2 so not really far from what it is normally, Maybe the cold temperature affects the reading.

Water is rarely constant in my area. Cold snaps effect the constitution so that could be one factor.

I don't mean temp of the probe, I mean temp of the reservoirs etc

    Depends on the spec

Essentials are upto 2 years. I read somewhere you get around 350 uses.

Depends how you store it too.

Always best to get a meter that calibrates in at least 2 points

If you only calibrate at 7.0, the starting point will be correct but the slope of the calibration can be off. That means the reading around 7 will be close but by the time you are at 5.5, you can be off
