How much the rhizo bases mate? They are probably perfect if not too pricey

They’re 80 quid with all the fixtures and fittings to get them to the middle Tupperware box, minus the hose.

It’s the relay I can’t get my head around tbh mate

If they were a bit less id get them. Builders bucket it is.

Relay is a latch mechanism that adds hysterisis. The bottom float arms the pump and the top float fires it.

Some people run with a single float and no relay. But this happens. Pump kicks in, removes some water. Float drops. Cuts power to pump. Water falls back to box. Float rises and it goes on for ever back and forth.

I've got a simple schematic and iron can take you through that bit ;-)

So one is slightly lower than the other? Clever mate fair play. I look forward to seeing this schematic haha. I suppose you could run a check valve on the extract side to stop that could you? I’ll stick with your way though makes more sense

Yeah you could but these pumps probably would you over come the valve.

Ideally you need a decent size tupawear box. I've gone for quite a high one so I can get a good separation between the floats

Water enters, lifts the bottom float and keeps rising until the top float lifts. It then pumps until the water drops below the bottom float. The more distance between the floats, the more it pumps each time.

You need a bit of water to remain so that the pump remains primed and ready for next go. It also ensures the pump never runs dry

You need to dial in the heights of everything. The central pump pot, plus pipework and pots holds quite a bit of water.

The rhizo pots will need to be lifted slightly so the water falls to the pump box obviously.

It's a very reliable bit of electrical logic and not much can wrong.

    Bonus question

Is the pump on or off in the circuit ?

Pump is off waiting for command to become live to complete the circuit? That’s what I’m seeing anyway haha
