The biggest difference though is the light now goes just down vertically onto the plant. CFLs goes 360 and inside 360 (lost), plus all the light lost between the tubes. What a load of crap honestly, I can say that now you've upgraded.

    Lol Gardro
That is what I like so much about those Tneons, it's flat CFL's so you don't have huge a inefficiency, well still have the light that goes up and looses power as it reflects down. But less than with these round bulbs.

I hate to say it... but I may be altering this light at some point as I'm hoping to build a taller grow area... however I want it about 45 to 50cm deep max and this light is about 58cm deep, and 70 wide (when you include the driver and dimmer switch). I'm hoping the new cabinet will measure about 145cm tall with a growing area of 75cm width, 45cm depth and 110cm height. The remaining 35cm height will be allocated below the grow area and will house the fan and cf... that boxed area will be extracted into but will have a vent from in through the wall to outside (since the vents already in place). So I'll have 20cm more height which will be nice, but it means either removing or somehow relocating two of the strips. Waiting will drop by 30 but that's ok by me and will only help keep down the leccy Bill's. The other challenge will be making a light proof door for these retina nuking light strips

Part of the beauty of strip builds mate is they're so easily reconfigureable. You may have to rotate 90°, depending on which side is the long side, but measure up and drill some new holes and you should be able to move the strips close enough together that it'll fit pretty comfortably - and if the driver's taking up too much room you could move it as long as you have a long enough DC cable. Peobably better to have more strips closer together rather than removing some as you'll have more power available if you want it and it should be a touch more efficient to produce the same amount of light by dimming rather than removing.

Go for it Silk, that is one of the big advantages of a self build light made up of multiple strips, you can add to or remove strips as needed. Good luck trying that with an IS panel
