    This year was a bloody nightmare. Planted 6 trays of Kale in the spring for transplanting. Then we get covered in snow for 2 weeks. Get them in the ground, and its the hottest driest summer in a billion years!

    No shit eh . Them leafy greens hate the heat too boot . All my lettuce got bitter even with row covering . My potatoes froze in may lmfao .

    All the fsrmers i know where lucky to have crop insurance this year . They almost lost their shirt if it wouldnt be for that .
    Price of local veggies skyrocketed . I didnt produce enough for our canning and recipes ffs . Saves me thousands per year living the old ways man . Had to shell out alot

    Fuckin absolute nightmare .

    That sounds awful dude, at least here in Portugal I know summers are freaking hot and dry so I won't be surprised by that and we plant according to it. I know that I won't be eating kale in summer but as long as we can keep them alive they are pumping leaves during late autumn and all the way till the summer heat and drought starts again. Not sure if its true kale or colards though.

    My growing season doesnt start til end of May beg June for most types of crops . When does growing season start on average i UK . Just so i can try and get a headstart

    I think we start at a similar time trex . I'll be germinating inside and starting in my veg room then bring outside around end of may . Doesn't matter when you start as long as you finish up before 31st October. I'll add you to the list later on today

    Its about the same Trex. Start to middle of April is usually safe enough to start here in Ireland-same in UK.
