Primes 2019 loft build
Gday cobbers
Just going to start a post about my planned loft build. Since I started my journey as a cannabis grower I have pretty much been in the same size grow space, 90 X 90 under either a 600 or a 400w bulb. The tent is hidden in a wardrobe, however, now my eldest lad is talking about growing strawberries and I've become a bit panicked. All it takes is one comment from him in school about his dad's strawberries and I'm fucked.
Soooo... It's time to move upwards and onwards to the loft where he has no access, nor does anyone else. The loft hatch is tiny, so it's not somewhere that can be used for storage normally, I literally have to fold myself in half to get up there. The landlord has never in 8 years been up there once, due to the acrobatics involved in gaining access. There is a defunct cold water tank, however, cold water supply can be easily reinstated and drainage can go down the old overflow.
As it's an old loft, temps are entirely dependent on the outside weather, scorching hot in summer, freezing in winter.
This is gonna be a pain in the arse to build, trying to make an well insulated, sealed grow room but if I wanna carry on growing it needs to be done.
The loft space is obviously triangular, as it's below the roof, but the usable space is still 3m X 2m. Plenty big enough to have veg, flower and cuts all in there in separate chambers.
Depending if I can find a suitable size loft tent I could possibly make the raised floor and then tent up and insulate that, as opposed to having to make walls and mylar. Think tent option is the best.
I'm contemplating venting straight out of chimney too, maybe air cooled lights so the lighting ventilation is on a separate run from the grow chambers, which I would prefer to be a sealed unit should I ever need to get an Aircon or something if it gets too hot in summer. During last summer when football was coming home, temps in the tent got up to 39c, plants were truly stunted and set back weeks because of it.
Anyway I'll post pics of my ideas later on
Let's roll
