A RVK 4" is around £55 if that helps. I have a spare 6" one but it would probably suck the plants out the groom LOL
Hahahaha that genuinely made me laugh out loud.
Yeah 6 would be way to big lol, that 4inch set up your student had looks great but its another 75 quid

I think Im gonna try my diy idea and then if it sucks (or doesnt lol) then I will invest in the RVK set up.

    Many thanks M_C

Yeah, set up costs can be a bit intimidating

What I used to do was, for every ounce I grew I would tax myself £20 to put towards upgrades. It doesn't take to long before you have a great set up

These days it's only really wear & tear to deal with, so £10 an ounce easily sorts me

Thats a cool idea mate, once I've grown a few ounces I will upgrade unless I have RH problems in the new box as well and then it will be a must buy deal would need a controller too so Im hoping DIY does the job lol.

At £20 an ounce mate I'd die of old age before I make up the costs I've incurred so far! Haha, it's a good way of looking at it though - although the numbers are maybe less favourable with small grows [and even less favourable if you have black fingers]! In terms of street values I've saved myself maybe £350 so far - less than half the cost of my case but still, it's no small amount of money.

I tend, on average, to smoke around an ounce per month. Call that 12 ounce per year. Not a small amount of money saved! But that's £240/year reinvested into the groom.... these days all I need is a new filter every other year & wear & tear to be sorted

    Bulb blows? - I have a spare
    Ballast pops? - I have a spare
Fan packs up? - I have a spare

It's when you get to this point that you really get the chance to play with new ideas... whilst saving money

I guess it depends how much you get through as well - I'm a cheap date and I smoke less than 1/8 a month so the yield requirement for me is much lower. I guess we all kind of grow with different priorities, is what makes the smaller grows interesting to compare?

And changes in priorities make for new designs and bigger boxes more fun kind of fighting the challenges right?

I think if I had 3g though of the home grown stuff I'd be unconscious for a fortnight!

    Lol...

Ok what would be the cfm of two 74cfm fans together lol...
The 4 inch RVK is only moving 108.298311 cubic feet per minute. Surely my design cant be far off that. So should be adequate

Really, really hard to compare mate based on cfm. Pushing/pulling through all that carbon the static pressure is way more relevant if you can find it. The RVK is likely to be way better on that front than normal PC fans, but the noise would scare me
