    Default Getting back into growing

    Hello folks,

I've decided to get back into growing. Last time i grew was well over 10 years ago, I was young (over 18 still) but I didn't really know what I was doing and it was pretty freestyle. So this time around I've decided to get stuck in again, and obviously I'm doing research but it can be hard since there is a lot of information out there and some of it is conflicting and super opinionated. So I thought I'd post what equipment I'm thinking of getting and hopefully someone can tell me or where i'm going wrong or hopefully right.

So to start things off, I have limited space and I'm sticking to autos for the time being as it doesn't require as much attention as non-autos.

So tent wise I was looking at this :
MARSHYDRO 70X70X160 CM Reflective Mylar Hydroponic Grow Tent for Indoor Plant Growing

The filter, duct fan and ducting extractor were all recommended together (as customers previously bought them all together)

    Filter : Ram 100/200 4-inch 170m³/ hr Filter
Fan : MultiWare Mixed Flow Inline Duct Fan 4 Inch For Vents Grow Tents Basements and Attics With Variable Speed Controller
Duct : Blauberg UK Aluminium Flexible Fan Ducting for Extractor fan, Bathroom, Kitchen, Toilet, Domestic Ventilation, Hydroponics Grow Room Tent Filter (4"/100mm dia - 10m Long)

Now for the light, this is where I'm getting a bit lost. I've decided to go LED (just energy savings). I've read a lot of varying articles on this saying that a lot of LED lights are too heavy on 'blue' lights instead of 'red'.

I was initially looking at this : VIPARSPECTRA Reflector-Series 600W LED - but I've been told this is too heavy on the blue lights, yet I've seen pictures of some successful grows using this brand. I'm now looking at the KINGBO
1000W LED Grow Light Double Chips. They actually include a spectrum report on the product page and it shows that it is very strong in red lights.

So there you have it. I couldn't include links since I'm a new member and I needed 10+ posts in order to do so.

I appreciate any help and advise!

    Take care

you can't post any links offsite unless they are sponsors mate, that aluminium ducting leaks light also your better off with combi ducting it's totally light proof and quiter than single skin aluminium

How many palnts you thinking of ?, I know you said limited space but 70cm is quite small, 90 is better if you can fit it in

    Cheers for the reply Monster.

Just need a bit of clarification please. You say the aluminium ducting is a no-go due to the heat signature it leaves; when you say I'm better off using a combi ducting I assume you mean the ducting that is wrapped in an additional layer (some of the initial searches I've done show a black coating)?

I'll check out that invisible sun - looks good. Besides that, does everything else look legit?

Well I was thinking of doing one plant at a time, trying to get a rotation on the go. What would you suggest as a tent size/brand?

If it's just the one plant then 70 x 70 sounds good. Could squeeze 2 in but 70 sounds like a nice big size for 1. I squeeze 2 into a 60 x 60 area in a 60 x 90 tent, but it's only 90cm tall so plants are short, bushy, and a bit squashed together.

Thanks for the replies guys. Really informative. I’m going to have to stick with the size tent I’ve picked out as it really accommodates my particular situation well. I will update this thread when I need further guidance! Thanks a bunch fellas!

    Dont forget all your bits,

    A cheap hydrometer
a decent PH & EC pen
    Timers

I never used to think about them, and buy cheapo ones, the best thing I ever did was pick up decent meters.

yea combi ducting is lined with black and silver on the inside, it's much quiter and 100% light proof
is only a few quid more expensive also, that aluminium stuff is usable but isn't light proof and is full of holes so makes more noise
