Quantum boards over alien setup, easily 1.5gpw

    Thinking 4 x Autos is a DIY RDWC setup...maybe a 1.5m2 tent instead of a 1.2.

Default RDWC growing = area/plant ratio?

Last time I changed my airstones the order came through wrong and they sent me 12 inch air bars. I’ve put them in some of the buckets standing up and those buckets have much better root growth than the small 4 inch ones I been using. The only water fall I’ve got is from the chiller outlet. Good amount of water disturbance and good flow stops anything going stagnant.
Can recommend the mephisto strains they’ve all turned out pretty good and I also like humbolt county seeds.
Very hard to pick a single strain that’s great on yield and quality smoke. Mephistos are the only ones I’ve grown with consistatly good yield and quality smoke at the end of it. Not much help I know but breeder definatly has a lot to do with it.
Is this just with autos mate? I’m trying my own diy but with photos.....if I don’t get 8oz per plant I’ll be spewing lol

I’m doing 4 and want least 8 min per plant for sure

go with 4 plants in a 1.5 tent. you don't need 50mm pipes, 40s will be fine.
40s are also more readily available, and cheaper. don't skimp on boxes tho, and solvent weld all your pipework.
heres mine yesterday, with 40mm returns, no problesm whatsoever.

    Good advice. Thank you.

Not sure what boxes to use. Are you using ikea?

I’ve seen a few using the black ‘Really Usefull’ storage boxes. I might go down that route.

really useful boxes are stronger and have flat sides (important if you are building a true undercurrent system.)
these are ikea, but the really usefuls have a lower profile, which allows another 6 inches of growth.
    good luck with it.

check boxes before filling with water or drilling holes in them. some of mine has tiny holes at the casting mark, in the middle of the base. just hold it up to the light and you will see if its got any small holes.

I’ve got some food grade plastic buckets 33l which seems to have taken well to the 56mm bulkheads. I’ve taken a 70l black bin from Homebase which has a decent thickened to the outside edges which have taken the bulkheads again well. Just hope when it’s all done I’ll have no leaks.

If they fail I’m deffo going to ikea for the boxes you have

So they sound like a good plan right? Any foreseeable problems with a lower profile box?

I’m thinking of binned the air stones and just having forced jet types inlets.

Do you know someone with a good setup I can copy?
