Tank Connector Knightmares

Hi Chaps & Chapetts,

I’m have an absolute dog with my Tank Connectors.

I’m running a RDWC with two totes and the reservoir - So only 6 tank connectors to worry about, but four out of six of them are refusing to stop dripping.

They’re the Kockney Koi brand 50mmDia ones with rubber seals both sides and ridiculously tightened up but still dripping.

Should I be using silicon or similar?

Any help massively appreciated.

Assuming they are threaded & the thread goes through, would PTFE tape help?

As MC said, PTFE tape. If that fails, I used insulating tape on one of my tank connectors. I caught the threads with my saw when I was building it. Hasn't leaked, touch wood.

Ahhhh, is that the normal thing to do?

All I’ve done is put the rubber washes on and screwed them up

PTFE stops it leaking through the thread

Tank connectors work off a rubber seal as you know, so you need to make sure the mating surfaces are flat and free from any dust or bits.

Rubber is soft so only needs to be loosely tight. I suspect you have overtightened them and crushed the rubber. The more you tighten, the worse it gets.

Either renew the washers or silicon up the hole/washers as you are tightening up to fill any gaps.
