    Default Calling all lofties..

    Hi lads,
how you all keeping the loft cool this summer? Iv got it fully insulated in kingspan. 2 x 1200w in a 2x2x2 triangle. It’s awfully hot in there even today it was hovering around 29c. It’s only been about 18 outside tho. Any hints or tips I’m al ears. Thinking of air cooled lights on a separate ducting run to my s and p 800/200 but if it’s gonna be that hard to control il fuck it off completely and go for another method.

    Thanks for reading.
    GasMan.

I've often wondered similar. I intake from the loft & during the summer just the warm air coming down can cause me a headache!

AC for me. My loft gets so hot that I can hardly use CFL without an AC forget trying to run HID or high power LED.

I was running cooltube vented outside but now I’m using led and just extracting air through filter straight out and temps are good

I bought this thing to see if it will help, think it only cost about £60 from what I remember, it’s a portable air air cooler don’t know if it will work or not lol. But reakon will upgrade to AC eventually, I reakon that’s your only long term solution dude Click image for larger version.

    Mate

I grow in the loft and it’s a battle but it can be done,I found a decent intake from a cool area of the house or loft area and get it blowing in at the bottom you want it string enough to move the leaves around.

Then I use a cool tube a smaller than normal had to order from Spain so I could fit it in my tent and you want a decent fan on this blowing the air out the loft. I use a fan direct on the tube too.

Use the insulting ducting and you should be good o and a strong extractor to over size is best and you want controllers on all fans for fine tuning.

I can go 600 most of the time 400in full summer have a led handy for heatwaves I found this was a life saver when away for a few days at a time.

Run lights during the evening as well this is a must in the loft

Not looking forward to it warming up might take a break

    Happy growing

I'm currently mentoring gasman who's a 1st time grower loft ..I've never done a loft ,wouldn't want to ,fist lesson we have learnt is ..extraction and intake ..you need lots of both ...the blatant example is I can run 365 days a year in my 1x2m using 1200 hps using a 6"tt and a rvk A1 8" ...hes running almost identical fans and he's already having temp issues, think he's just took delivery of upgrades

Thanks for the replies lads. I dunno wether to waste more money on cooltubes or put that cash towards an ac unit. Iv got my res inside the tent and Iv noticed when I fill it fresh, the following night the temps are a lot better but then once it heats it gets hotter. Obviously your trading heat for humidity then. I can feel the sun already. It’s gonna be another warm one haha.

Iv ordered kit to bring it my air from a junction box at the south facing Side of the roof, and one opening to the en suite which should be. Cooler, the only thing I’ll find hard is to extract out of the loft. I’m thinking of adding another vents from the cupboard on the landing to use with cool tubes. I can see it’s gonna be a struggle already though.
It’s the noise with ac that worries me the most. So far Iv got it pretty quiet and I’m coping. But I know this won’t be the case in two months at the end of flower.
