Default Hey all! Ex lurker here :)

    Hi there,

After being a lurker for many months I thought it was time to take the plunge and create an account. You are all such a friendly (and brutal! :P) bunch, offering very helpful advice sometimes without the sugar coating and without the sales pitch. Thanks to all who have taken the time to produce guides, answer questions and all the other time and effort that goes into this active forum

Anyway, I am new to this and gardening in general. I am going to see if these black thumbs can be turned green! I have slowly accumulated a few things and thought there is only so much I can read and better just get on and try grow. My set up at the moment which needs improving:-

Grow tent in attic 80x80x160 (wrapped in 3 layers of bubble wrap to help with heat - its bloody freezing up there!).
4in carbon filter and fan extracting outside through the bathroom vent.
4in intake fan (put in today - should have done more research. Positive pressure May remove until I upgrade carbon filter to 6in or get a fan speed controller)
    ViparSpectra 600w reflector series
    80w tube heater
    2kw greenhouse fan heater

Anyway, I have 2 Auto's I have experimented and messed up over the past 3 weeks.... they are unlikely to produce anything meaningful but thought I could learn from them first (I would tell you the screw ups but they are embarrassing :P). In the last week I have also popped 3 other Auto's and will surely mess these up too

As a beginner I should have started in soil... Instead I have dived straight into coco... I feel like a high school student again playing with ph meter and regret that I chose coco without an EC meter (on the "when I can" list - not the "absolutely necessary" list (bring on the flak for this :P)).

Right enough of this! I want to read some more of your useful posts rather than my drivel

    Thank you again all!

Cheers dude, warm welcome in seconds <3

Live and learn! I guess I should have started earlier to get rid of all the easy mistakes (I.e. why didn't I help my nana with her garden all those years ago :P).

This place is so addictive, you'll pick it up in no time. Here's a few forum tips,

Nothing is a stupid question, ask whatever you need.

Everyone works differently and you will always get conflicting advice. Trail and error is to be expected.

Start a diary and note down everything you do, it's much easier for us to help you if we know every thing.

    Enjoy

Oh no not another addition to feed.. Cat.. Plants, Gaming, Sea, Work.. Occasionally Sleep The diary bit is progressing, I will try keep a more accurate log instead of "doing good", "watered with nutrients", "plain water". I think I will have to have a scrap pad with headings to remind me to do it (gaffer taped to the tent door perhaps...).

Cheers for the welcome people and look forward to learning your craft!
