    Default Notre Dame

Whilst there is never a good time, I'm pleased that, due to restoration taking place, many artifacts had already been removed, including the 3m high copper statues, of the apostles, from the roof.

I'm not a religious man but places like Notre Dame are iconic and even the hardened atheist must admire the beauty and charm of such places.

My thoughts are with the Parisians this evening.

Really bad news man, same for me MC, I'm atheist as fuck, but the building is something special, it's fucking tragic to see it on fire!

I hope the damage isn't too bad

Suggestion seems to be that it's renovation based... I'd like to hope that it is nothing malicious ...

Insurance job imho a bit like the twin towers two weeks before critical fire protection was removed for testing
I loved the building when I visited and couldn't help but shout to my wife the bells the bells

It’s history, so no matter what religion it belongs to it’s important to be remembered but if it’s so badly damaged then leave it. Leave it to become historic ruins, id say rebuilding anything historic takes away its value in history because it’s not the original. I understand as time goes on renovations and certain work must be done to keep the building up, but replacing the spire and the roof seems pointless when they haven’t seen all the years the original did... sounds weird and stupid, but if it’s fixable (and financially viable) then do it but if your country has to have an appeal to afford to rebuild it then it should be left and 2019 will go down in history as the year the notre dame Cathedral burnt and was reunited with the ground from whence it came.
